As I am currently trying to eat as healthy as possible I tend to avoid eating sweets every day, but when I do eat something sugary I like preparing it on my own simply because it gives me a lot more satisfaction. After all I have been refraining myself from sweets all week(forgot to say that I have a massive sweet tooth*chuckle*) and it is absolutely not worth it to go to the shop and just buy the first package of cookies you see or some chocolate bars or whatever. Baking at home also creates some kind of a cosy atmosphere and the house smells AMAZING. So recently I was reminded of my Christmas Holiday two years ago that I spent in the UK with my best friend, my godmother and her husband. And of course I was fed with almost every single dish that was typical of the British community. My favorites were definitely the desserts and especially the Fruit Scones that are served with clotted cream(unfortunately couldn't find it where I live but successfully superseded with mascarpone cheese :)), strawberry and/or fig jam, and of course the good old tea . That was the first time I have ever made Scones, but they turned out to be pretty good. I guess the recipe that I used was super and that is why I am putting a link to the blog where I got it from -> http://foodwishes.blogspot.com/2010/04/scone-home.html
And here are my Homemade British Fruit Scones:

DIY: The Perfect French Manicure
This morning I was thinking .. Hmm what shall I do with my nails?! Maybe I should paint them in dark red or hot pink.. but what if it doesn't go well with my outfit? Well, after a few moments of pondering I found the perfect solution, namely, the French Manicure. It is probably the most wearable nail art that exists and it fits perfectly on every skin colour and nail shape. What's more, due to the fact that it's simple yet elegant, many women choose to wear it on everyday basis as well as on special occasions.
Enough of the admiration, let's get to the "tutorial":
To complete this task you can use a cuticle softener or exfoliator and a cuticle pusher(for beginners I recommend a wooden one) - Here I'm using Mavala Cuticle Remover
- File your nails
Filing your nails and giving them the right shape is a key step to having the perfect manicure. You can pick whatever shape you want but remember that you have to file them in one direction! - You can use whatever file you like - I'm doing this step with one that I bought from a local store
- Apply Nail Hardener
This step is absolutely optional for ladies with healthy hard nails, but I used to have brittle nails(I'm saying used to because since I've started using Mavala Scientifique Penetrating Nail Hardener I don't have this problem anymore) and I tend to apply the above mentioned product every once in a while
- Apply a white line - I'm using the one from the Bourjois French Manicure kit
-You can now remove the Tip Guiders and after you make sure that it is completely dry, you may apply a neutral colour nail lacquer - Mine is again from the Bourjois French Manicure kit and it is in the shade Rose Lounge
- The final step is to put a Topcoat - I used the one from the kit,but I'm not satisfied with the result so I would recommend using another brand's Topcoat
